Mental health - news

The London Neuroscience Clinical Network has produced three educational video guides to support GPs with managing three common neurological conditions; headache, dizzy spells and faints, fits and funny turns (Transient Loss of consciousness TLOC).

London has a high rate of neurology referrals and it is estimated 30% of common conditions did not need a neurologist. The main thrust of the project was to raise the neurological profile in a crowded market, improve communication between primary care and neurological services and access to neurological opinion. Each guide is a number of short discussions between a GP and a neurologist covering a key topic.

A national conference on “Integrated Care in Management of Severe Mental Illness: a realist approach” was held in Leicester on 29 April 2016. It was organised by Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) in association with Care Coordination Association (CCA) and East Midlands Mental Health Clinical Networks (EMMHCN). We supported this national conference and worked in conjunction with LPT and CCA to facilitate a national networking opportunity for clinicians and commissioners with the aim to share innovation, learning and service improvement to improve outcomes for mental health patients.
