Deputy Medical Director and Specialist in Special Care Dentistry, Northamptonshire NHS Foundation Trust

Deborah qualified in 1987 from The Welsh National School of Medicine and Dentistry. Deborah is a Deputy Medical Director and Specialist in Special Care Dentistry with specific leadership and management responsibility for Specialist Dental Services, adult community nursing, adult therapies (e.g. podiatry, physiotherapy), diabetic retinopathy services, integrated sexual health services and specialist palliative care. A specific responsibility within the DMD role includes the Trust response to professional guidelines, in particular NICE guidance. Her clinical workload includes sedation for special care patients and phobic patients, and the provision of a mixed restorative/surgical list under general anaesthesia. She is the regional chair of the Managed Clinical Networks for Special Care Dentistry and Anxiety Management. Deborah was the community clinical advisor to the panel drafting the National document “Commissioning Dental Services: Service standards for Conscious Sedation in a primary care setting”
